Our first stop takes us to Seljalandsfoss, a breathtaking waterfall that plummets 60 meters from the ancient sea cliffs into a tranquil pool below. Unique in its own right, this waterfall offers a footpath that leads behind the cascading water, presenting an awe-inspiring perspective.
Further along the coast, we visit the majestic Skógafoss waterfall. At 60 meters high and 25 meters wide, it is one of the biggest and most spectacular waterfalls in the country. On sunny days, a single or double rainbow is often visible, further enhancing the waterfall’s beauty.
Next, we explore the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, renowned for its striking basalt sea stacks and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. You’ll marvel at the contrast of the black sands against the white foam of the waves and the vibrant green and yellow mossy cliffs.
Venture on to the quaint coastal village of Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland. Here, you can enjoy a hearty lunch while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding landscapes.
On our return journey, we’ll make our way to Sólheimajökull, a spectacular tongue of the larger Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Here, witness the power of Iceland’s frozen landscapes, where blue ice intermingles with volcanic ash.
Our final stop will be at the famous plane wreck site on Sólheimasandur. In 1973, a United States Navy plane had to make an emergency landing on the black sand beach. Today, its remains have become an iconic photographic spot, symbolizing the stark and sometimes harsh beauty of Iceland.
Throughout the tour, your private driver ensures a flexible itinerary tailored to your interests, providing ample opportunities for photography and exploration. Enjoy the freedom to immerse yourself in each location, away from the hustle and bustle of larger tour groups.
At the conclusion of an unforgettable day of discovery, your driver will deliver you back to your accommodation in Reykjavik. Experience the wonder of Iceland’s South Coast at your own pace, in the comfort and convenience of your private tour.
