You will meet your experienced guide at Skaftafell Information Centre Parking lot and from there you will be driven to the root of Svínafellsjökull, which is an outlet glacier of the Vatnajökull Ice cap. The glacier is a part of the tallest mountain range in Iceland, and the highest peak in the country, Hvannadalshnúkur is easily seen from the glacier on a clear sky.
Before stepping on the ice, your guide will gear you up and provide you with the neccessary safety equippment needed for this glacier expedition and teach you how its used.
During the glacier walk you will be exploring the breathtaking ice formations and moulins while learning how they are formed and constantly change. You will also be able to attempt to conquer gravity when you get the chance to climb up the ice walls with ice axes and crampons. You will be in the safe hands of our experienced guides who will make sure the experience will be both safe and enjoyable, giving you instructions on the technical aspects of ice climbing through a step by step approach.

Booking and Payment
For all bookings, full payment must be made at the time of booking.
Upon your booking confirmation and we have received full payment, an email with a list of services purchased and booking number will follow. Please print the email to use as voucher and proof of purchase upon the start of your tour.
A cancellation must be sent to Tröllaferðir in writing or by email and be confirmed by Tröllaferðir to be valid.
90% of total tour price refunded if canceled 7 days or more before departure.
50% of total tour price refunded if canceled 2 – 7 days before departure.
0% of total tour price refunded if canceled 48 hours or less before departure. This includes bookings made within 48 hours before departure.
Changes or Cancellation by Tröllaferðir
Tröllaferðir reserves the right to change or alter tour itineraries due to weather or road conditions. Itineraries can be changed or canceled at any moment to assure the safety of passengers and staff.
In the case where Tröllaferðir cancels a tour, Tröllaferðir will make every effort to provide alternative arrangements without additional cost. Should these alternatives not be to your satisfaction a full refund of tour price will be made.
Adventure Travels and Client Responsibility
By booking an activity with us, you accept the hazards involved in this sort of tour and accept that in visiting remote and mountainous regions there is an element of on-tour flexibility. The itinerary stated in the tour dossier is indicative only and not a guarantee that a particular route will be followed or place reached. You must acknowledge that delays and alterations and their results, such as inconvenience and discomfort, are possible where unforeseen circumstances arise. You must have a level of fitness commensurate with your chosen tour and you are responsible for bringing the appropriate equipment.
Personal Travel Insurance
Individual travel insurance is not included in the quoted prices. It is recommended that clients take have travel insurance against contingencies, including compensation for medical costs and cancellation fees. In the event of an emergency medical rescue and/or repatriation from a tour by whatever means, the responsibility of such costs will be borne by the client.
All luggage and personal equipment are, at all times, at your own risk. We will not be responsible whatsoever for any loss, damage to your luggage and/or personal equipment.
Medical & Dietary Conditions
If you are affected by a medical condition which may affect your or other people’s enjoyment of the tour, you must advise this at the time of booking. Tröllaferðir reserves the right to refuse service to customers apparently not fit for the tours. Customers under the influence of alcohol or other substances will be prohibited from joining the tour.
Our Liability & Compensation
Tröllaferðir will accept liability for the negligence of its employees causing direct physical injury to passengers only to the extent that it is obliged under Icelandic law. We cannot be held responsible for any mishap to yourself or your property, and in particular for the consequences of flight cancellations, vehicle accidents, strikes, sickness, Government or customs or police intervention or other such happenings amounting to force majeure. By confirming your booking with Tröllaferðir, you acknowledge that we have taken all reasonable steps to safeguard its liability in this respect.
