The Northern Lights Cruise commences at our ticket office by the Ægisgarður pier in the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik. There you can buy tickets or exchange a voucher for a prepaid trip. A guide will meet you in the Whale Watching Centre, which is facilitated on board an old fishing vessel permanently placed by the pier. At night it takes on a magical form with a multimedia northern lights show. The 10 minute show includes images, time-lapse footage of the lights while explaining the science behind the northern lights.
Please note that for your enjoyment, this tour is subject to weather, conditions at sea and visibility and therefore it could get cancelled on short notice. In this case we will contact you with as much notice as possible with the information you provide in the booking process.

We do our very best to be flexible and give a refund in case of cancellation. If a cancellation is made with more than a week’s notice (7 days) we give a 100% refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 7 days notice, we will guarantee 70% refund. If a cancellation is made with less than 2 days notice (48 hours) there is no refund.“NO SHOW” bookings will be charged in full.
Terms & Conditions
CHANGE OF RESERVATION: If you need to make changes to an individual or group reservation we ask you to send us a notification as soon as possible, and not later than 12 hours before departure. Changes received less than 12 hours before departure may be subject to levy according to Elding Whale Watching’s current tariffs.
CANCELLATION POLICY: For cancellations we ask you to send us a notification no later than 24 hours prior to departure for individual bookings and 48 hours prior to departure for group bookings (or according to contract). In case of cancellation on our behalf we notify you with as much notice as possible using the contact details provided in the booking process. If possible we can assist you with changing your tour date or you can request a refund from your travel planner.
VALIDITY OF PRICES: All rates quoted are based on current purchasing prices in Iceland. Delta ehf on behalf of Classic Iceland reserves the right to increase prices already quoted or published in our price lists without notice in the event of currency fluctuation, government taxes, or any other cost increases that are outside our control. Any eventual changes in rates will not be made with less then 4 weeks’ notice before scheduled departure.
CHILDREN: Discounts for children are subject to the nature of the services and our service partners terms.
TOUR DEPARTURE: All boat tours start from Reykjavík’s old harbour. The departure time is indicated on your confirmation/voucher. It is the service buyer’s responsibility to arrive at our tour office in time to check in and to board the boat.
LIABILITY: Elding Whale Watching reserves the right to alter routes, itineraries or timetables, change or cancel tour dates should the necessity arise, including irregularities due to adverse weather. The tours are run in wild nature and we can never guarantee sightings on a particular tour. The estimated duration of tours are standard times and can change according to sea conditions. All activities are undertaken entirely at clients own risk and they must behave in a fit and proper manner at all times in accordance with Elding Whale Watching guidelines and must take proper responsibility for their own safety. All tours and outdoor activities carry inherent risks and Elding Whale Watching does not assume any responsibility for accidents that are caused by its customers or can be traced to their own actions or are caused by factors outside of human control (Force majeure). Elding Whale watching, it’s managers and staff accepts no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage of passenger’s property on our boats. With the purchase of your trip you agree to these conditions, understand its implications and accept responsibility for your participation during your tour.
COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS: In the unlikely event that no whales or dolphins are spotted on your Whale Watching Tour, we do not refund the tour price but offer a complimentary ticket valid on the classic EL-01, EL-02, EL-03 and AK-01 tours. In the unlikely event that no northern lights are seen on your Northern Lights Cruise, we do not refund the tour price but offer a complimentary ticket valid for the same service. Each ticket is valid for two years and for returning passengers only. Please remember to bring the ticket and your ID when checking in for the complimentary tour.
PASSENGERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS: If you have any special needs or requests we ask you to notify Elding’s head office as soon as possible so that we can do our best to meet your requests.
WHEELCHAIRS: It is permitted to have foldable wheelchairs on our boats without any additional charge. If possible, please advise our office prior to tour departure.
